As the College of Canons elected member, Tom is the only 'parish priest' on the Chapter.  His responsibility is to be able, when the occasion occurs, to try to represent the parish clergy perspective on the Chapter and, at the same time, to represent the Cathedral to the parishes. 
 
He was born in South Africa where his late father was the Bishop of Natal, and was ordained in 1969.  The early years of his ministry led him from a curacy with the legendary Fr Diamond in Deptford to running a parish the size of West Sussex, including managing a Mission Station, in the Western Cape. He has served in the Diocese of Chichester for over thirty years and has been the Vicar of Bosham for the past twenty.
 
He is married to Elizabeth and their current joy is the gift by two of their daughters of a grandson and granddaughter in 2006.
