The Friends of Chichester Cathedral are a group of people from a wide variety of backgrounds, but who have a common interest - the Cathedral.
Many Friends live locally and enjoy the numerous social events organised to help raise money for the Cathedral. Some Friends live further afield, and simply enjoy receiving information about the Cathedral, its mission and community life.
A Run for your Money! In aid of The Friends of Chichester Cathedral
On 31st March 2012, Colonel Andrew Maynard, the Cathedral's Communar, will be among 5000 runners to have the opportunity to be among the first people to cross the Olympic Stadium finish line after completing a special five-mile race around the Olympic Park. This will be the first public event in the Olympic Stadium, centrepiece of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Colonel Maynard estimates it will take him between 30 and 45 minutes but there are many imponderables!
Running times will be recorded on electronic timing chips/stopwatch. For a donation of just £1, you too can "take part" in the run by estimating how long you think it will take him to cross the line. There is a prize of Sunday Lunch for two in Cloisters Café for those who make the assessment nearest to the actual time. All proceeds will go towards the work of the Friends.
For an opportunity to say how long you estimate it will take him, visit the Cathedral Offices in the Cloisters
Monday - Friday 9am - 1pm and 2pm - 5pm.
