Sunday 25th April to Tuesday 23 May 2010

North Transept of the Cathedral

Freya Pocklington's unique style of drawing will be on show during this exhibition.  The works on display will be the result of a month long 'Artist in Residence' project at the Cathedral.  Freya spent the month of February 'Drawing on the Cathedral' for inspiration and has produced a series of quickly executed drawings, as this is her characteristic way of exploring new locations and contexts.  The Artist in Residence project was a collaboration with West Dean College.

This will be an opportunity to see a talented artist's spontaneous response to the inspirational setting of the Cathedral.  Entry is free.

Eighty artists applied for the residency, with the shortlisting and interviewing done by Bob Pulley (Principal of West Dean) and Anthony Cane (Chancellor of the Cathedral).  They were delighted to offer the residency to Freya, who has a first class degree in drawing and painting from Edinburgh College of Art, and an MA in drawing from Wimbledon College of Art.  She was shortlisted for the Jerwood drawing prize in 2008, and has worked in Portugal and Florence.
