On Thursday 14th January 2016 BBC Radio 2 visited the Cathedral to record a 20 minute feature on Chichester Cathedral.

The recorded piece will be broadcast during the performance interval of BBC Radio 2's 'Friday Night is Music Night' which will be broadcast live from Chichester Festival Theatre on Friday 22nd January 2016 from 8.00pm.

Friday night has, in fact, been Music Night on BBC Radio 2 for over sixty years.  With the BBC Concert Orchestra as its backbone, the mix of classical and popular works, film music, songs from  the shows, opera and operetta, has entertained millions of audiences across the globe.

Conducted by Keith Lockhart, this concert will celebrate the last 30 years of musical productions at Chichester Festival Theatre, including all the hit songs from Carousel, The Music Man, Kiss Me Kate and Sweeney Todd.  It will be presented by Ken Bruce from 8.00pm.

The interval piece on Chichester Cathedral will include interviews with the Dean of Chichester, the Very Revd Stephen Waine; Cathedral Guide, Celia Javan; the Director of the Cathedral Restoration and Development Trust, Craig Sergeant; and the Cathedral's Clerk of Works, Tony Allen.  A wide variety of topics will be featured including the Cathedral's history, its art, the role of the Cathedral in today's community, the on-going restoration project and the daily challenges of looking after such an ancient building.
