Emily Jeffery of BBC Sussex Radio recently visited the Cathedral to interview Charles Harrison, Cathedral Organist & Master of the Choristers, for the Sunday Programme which she presents on BBC Sussex Radio.

She interviewed Charles in the Organ Loft about his favourite hymn and recorded him playing some of his favourite pieces.  Emily also cheekily asked if she could take a turn at playing the organ and Charles agreed, so they traded places for a short while, with Charles taking care of the recording and Emily playing the first few lines of a well-known hymn.

Emily also asked Charles about the role of the choir in the Cathedral and how Chichester Cathedral is maintaining a strong choral tradition by recruiting choristers and providing bursaries, even up to 100% of the fees, where they are needed.  Charles went on to explain the important role that the Chichester Cathedral Choral Foundation Fund plays in this process.

This interview will be broadcast, in parts, over the next few Sundays during Emily's show.
