'Handel, Messiah and the King James Bible'

Wednesday 9 May 2012 at 6.30pm

By kind invitation of the Handel House Museum, The Dean of Chichester, The Very Reverend Nicholas Frayling will be giving an illustrated lecture entitled 'Handel, Messiah and the King James Bible'.  He originally gave this lecture at Chichester Cathedral on Tuesday 6 December 2011.

The Dean of Chichester explains: 'Messiah, composed by Handel in 1741, is his best known choral work, and it includes a selection of some of the most wonderful verses from the Bible.  In fact, Messiah has provided an introduction to the King James Bible for many people who would not have thought of reading it.'

The lecture will take place at St George's Church, Hanover Square, London, W1S 1FX (the church attended by Handel himself).  Should you wish to attend the lecture tickets are £5.00 and can be obtained from the Handel House Booking Line on 020 7399 1953 (or available on the door).  A glass of wine will be served afterwards.
