Brilliant sunshine gets the 2015 Festival of Chichester off to the best possible start on the Cathedral Green...

Festival of Chichester

The Festival of Chichester 2015, boasting more than 200 events, begun on Saturday 13th June, with a launch event on the Cathedral Green.  Chichester Music Academy were invited by the Festival Committee to provide the launch-afternoon entertainment and they responded with an array of superb young talent.  Nick Davidson who runs the Academy, put together a packed programme of his rising stars who charmed the crowds under fine blue skies.

The afternoon also saw a performance from guitarist Amanda Cook and violinsit Meg Hamilton, both of whom will be heavily involved in the Festival.  Also performing at the launch event were four members from the Chichester City Band, as was the cast of the play 'Stony Broke in No Man's Land' who treated the audience to an excerpt from the show.  In great showbiz tradition, they left the audience wanting more, stopping their extract on a cliffhanger (Vicars' Hall June 25 - 27 click here for more information).

The new mayor of Chichester Councillor Peter Budge found time in his busy schedule to delcare the third Festival of Chichester well and truly open in the summer sun.

Festival Co-ordinator Barry Smith said: "We have a fantastic line-up of exciting events on offer.  I'm particularly delighted with the star quality of this year's festival".
