Ordination of Deacons - Saturday 26 June 2010

Ordination 2010

The Diocese of Chichester held an ordination for Deacons on Saturday 26th June in the Cathedral.  The Bishop ordained 23 Deacons who were supported by 17 priest candidates who were all ordained the day after in parish churches. 

The retreat for all the candidates took place at the Bishop's Palace in Chichester for the four days prior to the actual service.  A packed Cathedral welcomed the ordinands ,on a sweltering hot day, and enjoyed a moving service celebrating God's gift of so many people offering themselves for the sacred ministry.  Afterwards all were welcomed by their families, friends and supporters - a great day.
