Record numbers attended Chichester Cathedral throughout this Christmas. The Cathedral Choristers, in particular, have enjoyed their busiest - and favourite - time of year. The Cathedral choir is made up of 18 boy choristers (the youngest aged 8) and 6 adult lay vicars who sang most days throughout December and at five services over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day alone.
This busy month, however, is when the choristers get to sing some of their favourite carols at some of the most special services in the Cathedral's calendar. The Chichester Cathedral Carol services, for example, are an atmospheric collection of old and new carols and some of these services had 1000 people attending. The choristers also sang at the Crib service on Christmas Eve, which welcomed some 1300 people, many of whom were children who arrived in their own costumes, as angels, shepherds or wise men.
One place is still available for the September 2012 intake of choristers. For further information please telephone 01243 812487 or email liturgymusic@chichestercathedral.org.uk
