Vintage Afternoon Tea with Music in the Garden of the Historic Bishop's Palace

The Bishop's Palace Garden
The Bishop's Palace Garden

Sunday 2nd July 2017

1.00pm - 4.00pm

A unique opportunity to enjoy vintage afternoon tea, accompanied by live music, in the Bishop of Chichester's private garden.  A delicious range of finger sandwiches and a mouth-watering selection of cakes and pastries will be served.

There will also be a rare opportunity to visit the private chapel in the Bishop's Palace.  Normally closed to the public this is the private chapel of the Bishop of Chichester and has been in regular use by successive  bishops.  It has changed little, since it was rebuilt early in the 13th century.  It contains several interesting features including a mid-20th century mural painting of the Ascension by Hans Feibusch.  Of special interest is the rare roundel wall-painting dating from the 13th century, well-known as 'The Chichester Roundel'.

Visitors will also be able to visit the Sherborne Room inside the Palace which is famous for its heraldic ceiling painted in the reign of Henry VIII by Lambert Barnard.

Tickets are £19.95 per person.  There is limited availability so early booking is highly recommended.
