Duncan Irvine

Duncan was born and raised in Canada to Scottish parents, and his strong attachment to Britain and love of history was instilled from birth. Duncan came to the UK when he was 18 as an undergraduate at St Andrews University, followed by a postgraduate course at the London School of Economics. A 35 year banking career then followed in both the UK and Canada.

In addition to the Cathedral, Duncan serves on the boards of a variety of charitable organisations including the West Pier Trust in Hove, the Council of Christians and Jews, and is Chair of his local secondary school in Uckfield, East Sussex. He also mentored with The Prince’s Trust for 10 years.

Duncan comments, “All of the work I do for charity revolves around children, history or religion, areas to which I am passionately committed.  I am humbled and honoured to have been asked to join the Chapter of Chichester Cathedral. God has blessed me with a satisfying job and a wonderful family including six children and four grandchildren, and I hope that I am able to give some of that back to the community and the Cathedral.”
