Simon was ordained in Chichester Cathedral in 1981, having qualified as a barrister before undertaking ordination training at Westcott House in Cambridge. His father came from Midhurst, and he has fond memories of visiting the Cathedral during his childhood.
He served as curate in Uckfield, before becoming Vicar and then Rector of the Lewes Team Ministry. He then spent six years working in inner city Glasgow, before returning to Sussex to become Rector of Aldingbourne, Barnham and Eastergate. In 2011 he was made Prebendary of Ferring.
In 2012 Simon became Rector of St Paul’s Chichester, with St Peter’s Westhampnett. He is proud to be closely associated with two church schools, Central School and The March School, together with the Prebendal School, of which he is a governor. He holds a particular responsibility for Deliverance Ministry within the Diocese and has an interest in mental health issues.
Simon is married to Fiona and they have four children, all of whom attended Bishop Luffa School. He enjoys dog walking around the city walls and watching the Cathedral peregrines from his garden.
