The Revd Dr Dan Inman

The Reverend Dr Inman is currently the Diocesan Director of Ordinands, having been previously Chaplain and Junior Research Fellow of The Queen’s College, Oxford. He follows in the footsteps of the previous Chancellor, Dr Anthony Cane, who left the Cathedral earlier in the year to take up the position of Dean of Portsmouth.

The Bishop commented: 'I am very glad indeed that Dan Inman has accepted the post of Canon Chancellor at Chichester Cathedral. His knowledge of the diocese will contribute significantly to the other gifts of learning, prayerfulness and imagination that he will bring to this post. He also brings the virtue of youth, a sense of humour, and delight in the range and diversity of the human condition.'

The Dean of Chichester, The Very Reverend Stephen Waine is delighted that the Reverend Dr Inman is joining the Cathedral community: 'Dan brings to the Cathedral theological gifts, and a desire to develop its role as a theological resource for the Diocese and broaden links with different organisations and groups of people.'

Dr Inman has long held a deep affection for the Cathedral and is enthusiastic about the opportunities provided by Bishop Martin’s invitation to serve as Canon Chancellor: 'I have long admired the Cathedral’s witness to Christ as much through its deep commitment to the Tradition as by its imaginative engagement with contemporary society and culture. I’m eager to build upon this heritage with the Dean and Chapter to encourage ambitious theological exploration, apologetics and thought-provoking hospitality to the Diocese, City and County in the coming years. I hope this new role will help many more in due course, as in the words of St Richard’s prayer, "to know Christ more clearly, love him more dearly, and follow him more nearly".'

All are welcome to attend.
