The Christian Faith

Chichester Cathedral is built in the shape of a cross.   The architecture and artworks are inspired by Christian faith and worship.

The heart of the Christian faith is found in the person of Jesus Christ.  In Jesus, Christians believe, we see the human face of God. He proclaimed and lived out God’s kingdom of justice, peace and love.   He reached out to rich and poor alike, and was especially concerned to include people on the margins of society. The authorities of his time found him so threatening that he was arrested and put to death.    That might have been the end of the story, but the Christian faith affirms that, to the amazement of Jesus’ followers, God raised him to new life.

Christians believe that God invites us to follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, share the new life found in him, and live out his purposes of love and justice for the world.   Responding to that invitation is what the Christian journey is all about.
