Hot Topics 2018
A series of talks through which contemporary issues are explored and discussed.
During 2018 this series will consist of four talks all connected by the theme of Peace and Reconciliation. Each Hot Topic session is introduced and chaired by the Cathedral Chancellor, the Reverend Canon Dr Anthony Cane.
At the first talk in February - 'Forgiving Your Torturers: Can It and Should It Be Done?' - we explored the concept of forgiveness and were honoured to welcome Kemal Pervanic, a survivor of the notorious Omarska concentration camp, set up by Bosnian Serb forces in the early days of the Bosnian War. Kemal now lives in England and is the founder of the transformative Most Mira charity. Kemal’s story is shared as part of The Forgiveness Project.
Join us for our next Hot Topic talk:
The Church of England has launched an initiative called ‘Grave Talk’ to encourage conversation about important topics it is easy to shy away from: death, dying and funerals.
The mornings will be hosted by the Cathedral Chancellor, supported by members of the Cathedral congregation. All are most welcome to attend - no faith commitment is required.
Entry is free, although contributions towards the refreshments would be gratefully received. It would help with the planning and catering to have an idea of numbers.
