Enrichment for All

Look out for our enrichment workshops designed to give children of all abilities a chance to explore the Cathedral in a unique and interactive way.

You may wish to add value to your local history study or offer a special learning opportunity for a group of children funded through Pupil Premium. We are also very happy to work collaboratively with individual or clusters of schools on specific projects to use the fantastic resources we have here at the Cathedral.  We can tailor make and develop new workshops that meet your needs and are always open to ideas. (Must involve groups of at least 24 pupils).

Able Pupil Enrichment

We also offer More Able Pupil Enrichment Days during the school week at least once a term, when we take up to 36 children from a variety of schools for an interactive and challenging day of either Maths or Literacy activities.

Mysterious Manuscripts

Literacy Enrichment Day for More Able Years 3 and 4

Monday 19 October 2020  9.30am - 2.30pm

A whole day of exciting and challenging activities in the Cathedral.  Pupils will be visitors from Medieval times and will find out how people learnt about the Bible in the Middle Ages through looking at various artworks.  Pupils, as guides, will write a leaflet to help visitors understand the meaning of 6 artefacts in the Cathedral. There will be a visit to the Cathedral library to see some of the Cathedral’s ‘special’ Bibles.  They will hear about the bravery of those who fought to have a bible written in the English language. They will then be given the opportunity to handle a modern version of the bible and learn how it ‘works’ using reference and index skills.  They will also learn about how bibles were produced before printing and as manuscript makers and illuminators will use ink, quills and nibs to create their own book plate.

Who is this for? Year 3 and 4 Pupils with more able/gifted literacy skills.

£12.50 per pupil - materials included (£11.25 for School Friends).  Please note a maximum of 6 pupils per school.
