Chichester Cathedral Choir Welcomes New Tenor Lay Vicar...

Mr Ed Williamson
Ed Williamson

Chichester Cathedral is delighted to welcome Mr Ed Williamson to the choir as a tenor Lay Vicar.  Ed grew up in West and South Harting, near Petersfield and now lives in the Portsmouth area.  He has a nine year old son called Louis.

From the age of 9, Ed boarded at Christ Church Cathedral School in Oxford where he was a chorister at the Cathedral under the direction of Francis Grier.  He then moved to Cranleigh School where he was a music scholar.  Whilst studying for a BMus degree at Cardiff University he was a choral scholar at Llandaff Cathedral and followed this with a move to Guildford where he held the position of lay-clerk at the cathedral whilst completing a MMus degree in composition at Surrey University.

Ed is currently Head of Music at Ditcham Park School, a small independent day school for boys and girls aged 4 - 16 on top of the South Downs near Petersfield.

Until recently Ed has also been a foster carer for Hampshire which he did for three and a half years.  Whilst being a teacher, Ed has sung in numerous choirs and has more recently been depping here at Chichester Cathedral.  He is now delighted to take up the full-time post of Lay Vicar alongside his job at Ditcham Park.
