Once again Chichester Cathedral was overwhelmed by a record number of visitors to see its Festival of Flowers 2010.  The theme of the event was 'Poetry in Paradise' and more than 50 poems were beautifully interpreted by the 200 flower arrangers who took part.  Visitors were overcome with the beauty of the arrangements and many stopped to offer their comments to the many volunteers on duty during the three days.  With cafés, plant stalls and a summer market in the Cathedral grounds and precincts there was certainly something for everyone to enjoy in the glorious sunshine over the entire event.

This was the eighth festival the Chichester Cathedral Restoration & Development Trust has held over a sixteen year period and during that time the Festivals have raised more than £700,000 to help the continuing restoration programme at the Cathedral.

Alison Godfrey, Director of the Chichester Cathedral Restoration & Development Trust said 'We are thrilled with the joy our Festival of Flowers 2010 has brought to the many thousands who visited us.  Many people were moved to tears by the sheer beauty of the Cathedral combined with the lovely poems.  We hope to raise many more thousands of pounds to continue the vital restoration of our beautiful Cathedral'.
