'The Angels' Cathedral Skydive Team - Update

Friday 18th June 2010 will be a date to remember for ‘The Angels’, the cathedral’s intrepid skydivers as this is the date on which they have agreed to take to the skies and throw themselves out of a plane from 13,000 feet – all in aid of charity!

It was only to be expected, but membership of ‘The Angels’ has changed slightly since the last report in the Spring Newsletter (Click here to review).  There have, unfortunately, been a number of ‘drop-outs’ for various reasons - none of which, we are pleased to say, can be attributed to cowardice – but, with a few late additions, the team currently stands at fifteen strong of which twelve members are cathedral personnel.

Our initial sponsorship raising efforts for the event have yielded somewhat disappointing results to date but it is hoped that as the big day approaches, pledges will start to come in thick and fast and we will be successful in raising sufficient funds to make a significant contribution towards the cathedral project to provide a new decorative door for the Lady Chapel aumbry cupboard in addition to each skydiver raising a nice sum for their own personal charities.

In case you didn’t see the last report, 50% of all money raised by the cathedral members of ‘The Angels’ will be donated to the cathedral project (25% in the case of non cathedral personnel team members).

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE help ‘The Angels’ achieve their ultimate goal of covering the whole cost of the Lady Chapel aumbry door and support us by sponsoring the team as a whole in one of the following ways:

IN PERSON using one of the sponsor forms available in the Royal Chantry Cathedral Office Reception, Cloisters Shop or at the Cathedral’s Information Desk
BY TELEPHONE or EMAIL Contact the Chapter Secretary, Debbie Atlee, on 01243 812491 or at
NB  You will not be asked  to part with any money until after the event

Our next report will be an account of ‘jump day’ and we hope to have lots of wonderful pictures of some very elated (and relieved)skydivers to feature.
