Ordination at Chichester Cathedral

There was a real buzz in the air at Chichester Cathedral on Saturday 30th June as sixteen men and women were ordained as deacons of the Church of England.  Bishop Mark Sowerby as acting Bishop of Chichester ordained the candidates who have completed a course of study and will now begin their ministries in parishes across the diocese.

Also being ordained as priests were a number of deacons from last year.  This year for the first time both men and women were ordained priests together at a service at the Cathedral on Sunday 1st July by Assistant Bishop, The Right Revd Christopher Herbert.

Bishop Mark said, "This year's ordinations mark the very promising beginning to the ministries of new deacons and priests.  They are the source of much celebration and hope for the future in the parishes where they will serve and in the Chichester Diocese as a whole."
