Successes for Cathedral Enterprises...

Student of the Year for Enterprises Chef David Gilbert

Enterprises young chef David Gilbert has won Student of the Year for day release students attending Chichester College.  David joined the Cathedral's team of chefs in May 2010 and has had a fantastic first year working under the guidance of Head Chef Barry Kearns on a wide range of catering events at the Cathedral.

David will be able to add this award to the three medals that he collected at his first catering competition earlier in the year at the prestigious Wessex Salon Culinaire, part of the annual Hotel & Catering Show in Bournemouth.

Young Chefs Club cook at the Cathedral

The Young Chefs Club was started at Chichester College with the aim of encouraging young people into the world of food; offering them a chance to experiment with cooking and develop their culinary skills.  During the most recent six week course the students, aged 14/15 years, worked very closely with Cathedral Enterprises Head Chef, Barry Kearns, giving them an opportunity to put into practice the skills they had learnt.  The six week course culminated in a dinner at the Cathedral which the Young Chefs prepared and served to parents and college staff under Barry's careful guidance.

Chichester Cathedral Enterprises continues to work very closely with Chichester College to help with the training of students involved in the hospitality courses that they offer.
