Restoration at Chichester Cathedral

Chichester Cathedral is an outstanding Grade I listed building whose history and architecture spans more than nine centuries.  The building, which is open to all without charge, is a centre for the religious, artistic and cultural life of the community, not only in Chichester but throughout Sussex and beyond.  It is a nationally important heritage asset and we must do everything we can to preserve it for future generations.

January 2018 sees the start of what is thought to be Chichester Cathedral's largest restoration project in its 900 year history - the urgent repair, restoration and recovering of the Cathedral's High Roof.  The project is estimated to cost £5.8 million.  The Cathedral receives no statutory funding or funding from the Church of England.  It is entirely self-supporting, relying wholly on donations and fundraising activities for all its restoration projects.  Please click on the buttons below to find out more about the Cathedral's High Roof Restoration.
