Chichester Cathedral offers a varied programme of guided tours, delivered by a team of enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides.

Following the announcement on Monday 23rd March by the Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Chichester Cathedral has closed until further notice.  In direct response to the Government’s instructions all Church of England churches have closed in order to support the national effort to limit the transmission of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Drop-in Tours

Our Guides offer drop-in guided tours of the Cathedral at 11.15am and 2.30pm from Monday to Saturday inclusive. These tours are free and last approximately 45 minutes. Advance booking is not necessary, you can just turn up and join a tour. They start just inside the main entrance to the Cathedral.

Drop-in tours are for individuals and small family-sized groups. Larger groups should book their visit in advance. Specialist tours are also available.

(Very occasionally a drop-in tour may be cancelled due to a service, concert rehearsal, or other event. If you are travelling to the Cathedral especially for a guided tour then we recommend that you telephone 01243 782595 in advance to check.)

Go for the tour! The Cathedral is wonderful, full of interest and beauty, but our visit was much enhanced by an extremely engaging and knowledgeable volunteer guide who was unstinting in sharing his time and considerable knowledge with us.
