We have an exciting opportunity for two Visitor Experience Assistants to join our front line team, responsible for providing a warm welcome to the Cathedral to our visitors and asking them for a voluntary donation.

Chichester Cathedral is a living church that has been at the centre of life in Chichester for over nine centuries. We welcome visitors to share in worship, explore history, art and music and experience our vibrant programme of events.

The Cathedral does not receive statutory or Church of England funding and is self-supporting, which means that we rely on self-generated income, donations, and fundraising activities.  That’s where our Visitor Experience team comes in.

Working with your fellow Visitor Experience Assistants (VEAs), volunteer Welcomers and the Cathedral Vergers, you will be the first point of contact within the Cathedral and you’ll manage visitor flow at the entrance and be responsible for processing visitor donations.

Contract: Zero hour. These roles require the post-holder to regularly work weekends, bank holidays and some evenings. A suitable working pattern will be agreed with the Visitor Experience Manager (VWEM) and Head of Operations (HoO).

Other requirements: Chichester Cathedral is a living church and applicants should be in sympathy with our Christian mission.

Benefits: Pension contribution, 34 days’ leave pro rata, free car parking, access to our on-line training portal, membership of our Employee Assistance Programme and 10% discount in the Cathedral Shop and Café.
