Discover something beautiful within the Cathedral's historic Quarter. When you find this object, location or viewpoint you could spend some time drawing or photographing it, maybe even write some words that help describe what you have found. For example, the colours, shapes, patterns and textures or how you feel.
Skills Workshop | Drawing Shapes*
Lucie and Tim will be running a workshop on how to draw basic and complex shapes, catering for your creative experience. You will be using the Cathedral grounds and the viewpoints to learn how to break down a composition into more familiar shapes.
Skills Workshop | Tone & Shade*
During this session you will learn what charcoal is and why it is a popular tool amongst artists. The shades of an image give the composition form and structure. Using light and dark can also give a feeling or a mood in your work. Lucie and Tim will show you how to use this organic material - you might get a bit messy, but don’t worry as it is easy to rub off!
Skills Workshop | Colour*
Using colour in your artwork is sometimes be challenging. In this session Lucie and Tim will show you how to mix colour and start to think about how you might change and adapt your colours to represent what you see. This is a fun session where you get to play with your new watercolour pen, whilst mixing colours!
*Please note that your £2.00 entry fee includes access to all skills workshops, however, is it not compulsory to attend all sessions and you are more than welcome to continue to explore the Cathedral Quarter and be creative in your own time and pace.
