CANCELLED: Lunchtime Concert: Harry Spencer, organ

With regret, our lunchtime concerts are, for the present, cancelled.
We hope to reschedule these performers for 2021. Thank you for your understanding.

Harry Spencer hails from Preston, Lancashire and began his musical career as a chorister in the male-voiced choir of Broughton Parish Church. Aged 12 he commenced organ lessons under David Scott-Thomas and was soon awarded the Organ Scholarship affording him the opportunity to accompany the choir on tours to the Isle of Man and France as well as Evensong at St Paul’s Cathedral, London. Before starting at Chichester, Harry studied A Levels in Music, German and Politics at Cardinal Newman College in Preston and, during this period, complemented his courses with organ study at the Junior RNCM (JRNCM) under Simon Mercer. Here he was principal accompanist to the JRNCM’s vocal ensemble and performed as both soloist and accompanist in a variety of concerts and recitals including a performance of Bernstein’s ‘Chichester Psalms’. Harry was fortunate to take part in masterclasses with world-renowned organists such as Martin Baker and last summer, Harry was awarded the JRNCM’s performance award.

As Organ Scholar of Chichester Cathedral, Harry’s duties involve accompanying and directing the choir as well as working closely with the choristers at the Prebendal school.
