Mass in Blue was written by Will Todd in 2003. A wonderful fusion of sacred choral music and jazz, that has become an established part of choral repertoire. It brings the composer’s lifelong love of traditional choral music into the 21st century with spiritual sensitivity and a contemporary edge.
The fusion of jazz and choral music continues with Songs of a Rainbow Nation written by Alexander L’Estrange. These four songs not only celebrate the cultural diversity of Southern Africa, but also capture the spirit, energy and simplicity that is so typical of the African song tradition.
With the composer Will Todd himself as pianist in his own jazz ensemble in partnership with The Chichester Singers, this promises to be an uplifting evening combining fine choral music with jazz and swing.
