Biography
Emma and Heather have been performing together since 2010 when they met whilst studying at The Royal Academy of Music, London.
Since then they have regularly given concerts for music clubs, festivals and charity ‘Live Music Now’, and have performed Mozart's Flute and Harp Concerto with the European Union Chamber Orchestra and Cyprus Sinfonia. Emma first came to prominence as the woodwind category winner of BBC Young Musician 2010. She also won the Sir Karl Jenkins/Arts Club Award 2016, and the Sussex Prize for Woodwind in the Royal Overseas League Competition 2019. She has performed live on BBC Radio 3’s “In Tune” on multiple occasions.
Emma has freelanced with orchestras including the London Mozart Players, BBC orchestras and the RTÉ NSO, and was principal flute of the European Union Youth Orchestra 2014-16. Emma teaches privately, at the University of Cambridge, and at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. www.emmahalnan.co.uk
Heather was inspired to play the harp at the age of six. As a junior student at Trinity College of Music she studied harp with Gabriella Dall’Olio and Frances Kelly; she continued her studies at The Royal Academy of Music, London with Karen Vaughan, graduating with an MA (Distinction), BMus(Hons) and an LRAM teaching qualification.
Heather currently freelances as a soloist, orchestral and chamber musician which has led her to perform at prestigious concert venues including The Royal Festival Hall, The Royal Opera House, Cadogan Hall, St John’s, Smith Square, Glyndebourne Opera House as well as Kensington and St James’ Palaces. www.heatherwrighton.co.uk.
