Lunchtime concert: Boglárka György, violin, & Amy Butler, piano

Chichester Cathedral's popular lunchtime concerts take place on Tuesdays at 1.10pm during term time, in the spectacular setting of the Cathedral Nave. They are free and last approximately 50 minutes. There is a retiring collection.

Biographies

A spark of passion for music ignited by Bizet’s Carmen, led violinist Boglarka Gyorgy to pursue a career as an artist from a young age. She is a graduate of the Liszt Academy of Music, Budapest. Originally from Hungary, Boglarka has also called Israel home. Music making has subsequently taken her to many countries. She is currently based in Birmingham, England.
In 2017 she gave her orchestra debut playing Bartok 2nd violin concerto with Savaria Symphony Orchestra with conductor Gergely Madaras. She also had the privilege of working with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Elim Chan, Santtu-Matias Rouvali and Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla. She is regularly performing with the Philharmonia, CBSO, BBC Philharmonic, Manchester Camerata and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
As a recitalist, Boglarka has performed extensively throughout Europe and Asia, and at festivals such as Keshet Eilon, ISA Semmering, Lichfield Festival and the 11th International Music Festival in Moscow. She is regularly playing with pianist Amy Butler.
Boglarka plays a Cuypers 1797 violin, kindly on loan to her from the Harrison-Frank Family Foundation.

Yorkshire-born pianist Amy Butler studied with British concert pianist Martin Roscoe and gained a first class masters degree from Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford.
Amy has a particular passion for chamber music and she especially enjoys working collaboratively with other musicians. Regular concert partners include violinist Boglárka György and flautist Chris Hill; she also comprises one half of the Luna Piano Duo, alongside pianist Graziana Presicce. Amy has performed for many venues and music societies across the UK, with recent highlights including Stratford-upon-Avon Music Society, North Westmorland Arts, Warwick Arts Centre, Weymouth Chamber Concerts, St Mary's Perivale, Sprotbrough Music Society, the Eric Coates Society and the Guild of Musicians and Singers (London). She is also a staff pianist for the East Riding Music Service and pianist for Beverley Male Voice Choir and Snaith & District Choral Society.
Amy is a co-founder of Howdenshire Music, a classical concert series based in Howden, East Yorkshire.
