Lunchtime Concert: Elena Toponogova

Chichester Cathedral's popular lunchtime concerts take place on Tuesdays at 1.10pm during term time, in the spectacular setting of the Cathedral Nave. They are free and last approximately 50 minutes. You are welcome to come and go as you please. Coffee is available at no extra charge, and some visitors even bring a sandwich! There is a retiring collection.

Elena Toponogova is a concert pianist from Siberia based in London. Her main interest is Russian repertoire and especially music by Nikolai Medtner. Elena recently received her Master of Performance degree from the Royal College of Music, studying under Norma Fisher. Her studies were kindly supported by the Norah Seary Trust, Altrusa Careers Trust, the Future of Russia Foundation and Tsukanov Family Foundation.

She previously graduated with distinction from the Academic Music College at Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where she was a recipient of Elina Bystritzkaya scholarship.

Elena has taken part in many international festivals including Bloomsbury Festival in London. She has been performing as a soloist and chamber musician in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Russia and appeared in many prestigious concert halls such as Rachmaninov Hall of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory and Amaryllis Fleming Hall, London.

In 2016 together with Norwegian violinist Elisabeth Turmo Elena formed a duo and since that the duo is a regular guest in Norway and has successfully performed in many venues across the UK. The duo’s debut CD will be released in 2020.
