Musician Biographies
Shirley Turner studied violin at London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Simon Fischer and Yfrah Neaman. She has played with many of the UK’s leading orchestras and has been a first violinist in the BBC Symphony Orchestra since 2001. As a chamber musician Shirley gives regular recitals throughout the UK of music for violin and viola and recently featured, briefly, on the album Brief Encounters for Meridian Records. Shirley plays a Luigi Cardi violin from 1886.
Peter Mallinson has been a member of the BBC Symphony Orchestra since 2012. As a soloist Peter has given many premieres, including the UK premiere of Sally Beamish’s That Recent Earth, and the world premiere of Detlev Glanert’s The Pleiades. He loves exploring and recording the chamber repertoire for two violas and will soon be releasing his fourth disc with Meridian Records. Before studying at the Royal Academy of Music with Martin Outram and Jane Rogers, Peter read music at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge.
Lynn Arnold is recognised for her “glorious pianism” (MusicWeb International) and collaborative musicianship. A founding member of the Warwick Piano Trio, Lynn plays with artists including Francesca Barritt and Roderick Williams. She is an advocate of British music and has recorded to much critical acclaim with the Tippett Quartet and pianist Charles Matthews. An alumna of Cambridge University and the Royal Academy of Music, Lynn studied with Vanessa Latarche, Michael Dussek and Patsy Toh. She is on the staff of the Royal Academy of Music Junior Department.
