Stephanie Gaunt reflects on her year as Chichester Cathedral organ scholar
Stephanie started learning the organ at St John’s Church, West Byfleet in 2021. She was also a member of the choir at St John’s, and in 2023 she helped to establish a new Junior Choir there. She has been the Organ Scholar of Chichester Cathedral since September 2024, and during her time here she has enjoyed accompanying the choir and contributing to daily services.
She completed her degree in Music and Sound Recording at the University of Surrey, graduating in 2024. In Summer 2024, she passed her ARCO organ diploma, winning prizes for the highest aggregate marks in the exam, and the highest marks in written paperwork. Stephanie also holds an LTCL piano diploma, and is currently having organ lessons with Stephen Farr and Anne Marsden Thomas; in July she will start working towards FRCO with Frederick Stocken.
In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys dancing, painting, and caring for her twenty eight pet stick insects.
From September, Stephanie will become the Organ Scholar of Canterbury Cathedral.
