The Prayer Group will be firstly be exploring St John’s teaching on prayer, the stages along the path to what he calls ‘perfection’; secondly St John’s wonderful poems, through which he attempted to express the ineffable – his experience of God; and finally St John’s life, including his relationship with St Teresa of Avila.
The Study Day will be led by Dr Roy Norton, a lecturer at Oxford University specialising in the literature and religious culture of sixteenth and seventeenth century Spain.
Meet for coffee from 10am: the Study Day runs from 10.30am - 3pm. Lunch will not be provided so attendees may wish to bring along a packed lunch.
