To celebrate the opening of Glowing + Alive, our new exhibition, we’re running special weaving workshops for children inspired by the Cathedral’s vibrant John Piper tapestry – a stunning artwork full of colour and story.

Join our Creative Learning team and dedicated team of volunteers, as we host two children’s weaving workshops on Saturday 14 February 2026, at 10.00am and 11.30am. These hands-on sessions invite children to explore textiles, colour, and storytelling in a fun and creative way.

Each workshop will begin at the Piper tapestry, where children will learn about the artwork and draw inspiration from its imagery, textures, and colours. They will then move to the South Transept to create their own woven bookmark, making a sustainable keepsake to treasure for years to come.

We understand that every child works at their own pace, so they may finish during the session—or take their loom card home to complete their weaving at their own speed.

As an Eco Church Gold award holder, many of the spools of wool and ribbon used in the workshops are kindly donated, reflecting the Cathedral’s commitment to recycling and reusing materials where possible.

Who can join?
