Held every two years, this special Thanksgiving Service welcomes livery members from across Sussex to the Cathedral.
It is a rare and significant gathering of livery companies outside London, offering an opportunity to give thanks for their work and witness across the Sussex region.
The next service will take place on Saturday 8 May 2027.
Livery companies have existed for hundreds of years and remain an important part of the City of London’s colourful pageantry. Philanthropy has always been central to their purpose. Originally established to regulate trading standards, train apprentices and support members in hardship, today the companies are united by a shared commitment to charitable giving — particularly supporting those who are vulnerable or facing disadvantage.
Here in Sussex, their generosity makes a tangible difference. Beneficiaries include Amberley Museum, Eastbourne College, Sussex Snowdrop Trust and Sussex Prisoners' Families, reflecting the breadth and diversity of their charitable support.
