Chichester Cathedral’s guest accommodation has been recognised with Traveller Review Awards 2026 from Booking.com, following consistently high scores from guests who stayed within the Cathedral Close over the past three years.
The Traveller Review Awards are based on verified guest reviews published between 1 December 2022 - 30 November 2025. Scores reflect the overall guest experience, including hospitality, comfort, cleanliness and the uniqueness of the stay.

This year’s recognition includes five Cathedral accommodation offerings:
- 4 Canon Lane: A beautifully restored former Archdeaconry, with eight elegant rooms and garden views. Function and meeting rooms also available.
- Cloisters Cottage: A cosy cottage which faces the Cathedral Green. Built in the 13th century as the Chapel of St Faith the building was converted to a private house after the Reformation.
- Canon Gate: A unique apartment located above the historic stone gateway to the Cathedral Close, with exposed beams and arched windows - formerly the chamber of the Bishop's Court of Pie Powder during the 17th century.
- Pilgrims Rest and St Richard’s Apartment: Two separate apartments located in the heart of the Close, with living, kitchen and dining spaces.
Together, these high-quality overnight stays offer guests the rare opportunity to sleep within the Cathedral Close - a peaceful, enclosed setting in the heart of Chichester. Many guests comment on the tranquillity of the grounds, the spectacular views of the Cathedral, and the sense of being immersed in centuries of history.

Their central location makes them an excellent starting point for discovering the city. Chichester’s independent shops, cafés and restaurants, its galleries, theatres and museums, and the wider attractions of the South Downs and West Sussex coastline are all within easy reach.
Supporting the Cathedral’s mission and heritage
The Cathedral’s commercial income - including revenue from its accommodation - is vital to sustaining the life and work of Chichester Cathedral. As a registered charity, the Cathedral receives no regular funding from the Government or from central Church sources. Every booking directly contributes to the upkeep of the historic buildings, the delivery of educational activities, and the ongoing rhythm of worship.
Amy Sim, Chichester Cathedral’s Communar & Chief Operating Officer, said: "It's great to see our accommodation recognised in this year's Traveller Review Awards. The feedback from our guests means a lot, and it reflects the genuine care and hard work that our very small team puts into every stay!”
