Chichester Cathedral is delighted to report that the roof restoration project is currently running on time with the completion of the work to the Quire and Quire Aisle roofs due in October 2018.

The copper has been completely removed from these sections of the roof and timber repairs are currently at an advanced stage with lead replacement to the lower and high roofs progressing.  The copper removed from the roof was set aside and has been sold for recycling.  The proceeds from the sale of the copper have been incorporated into the project costs.  On the main Quire roof slope there are 360 new panels of lead.  Each new panel weighs around 75 kilograms (nearly 12 stone).

The south side high roof has been stripped, repairs completed and the new sand cast lead is now being installed.
