The Chapter, the governing body of Chichester Cathedral (formally, the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity, Chichester), is preparing amendments to the Constitution and Statutes of the said Cathedral.
Summary of the principal proposed amendments
The proposed amendments are intended to maintain compliance with the Cathedrals Measure 2021 and the Charities Act 2011 and to update the Cathedral's governance arrangements. The principal proposed amendments include:
- changes to Chapter governance, including quorum requirements and the balance of executive and non-executive membership;
- a reduction in the minimum number of Residentiary Canons;
- revised safeguarding governance arrangements, with the introduction of Safeguarding Advisory Panel;
- updates to committee structures, composition and membership requirements;
- revisions to the arrangements for the removal of committee members; and
- changes to the minimum frequency of committee meetings.
