Painted Fired Clay
Rise is a crowd bearing an elevated form, in effect carrying the burden of the times we have lived through. Only as a group working together can the weight be lifted. The work is partly inspired by the Raising of Lazarus relief at the Cathedral. Patricia's aim is to uplift the heart with pure abstraction and colour, conveying the universal human spirit, but specific to now. Listen to the audio below to hear more from Patricia:
Patricia Volk, a sculptor based in Wiltshire creates pieces in painted fired clay. Exhibiting nationally and internationally for over 30 years, she aims for simplicity of form in dramatic shapes which, when juxtaposed, convey human relationships -individuals, all with their different surface patterns and colours, coming together to make the whole.
