Our vision

Chichester Cathedral is a place of worship, welcome and wonder.

Guided by St Richard of Chichester’s vision of the Christian life, we seek to know, love and follow Jesus, and to make him known in our city and diocese, and to the many people who visit us:

To grow in the love and knowledge of God 

• Offer the highest standards of worship, music and preaching
• Enhance and deepen Christian education and spiritual development at all levels
• Grow and care for our congregations
• Welcome worshippers, pilgrims and visitors

To love our neighbour as ourselves 

• As the seat of the bishop and mother church, serve the diocese and wider Church
• Work with local partners to further the common good
• Safeguard those for whom we are responsible
• Increase accessibility

To nurture, sustain and hand on what we have received 

• Preserve the cathedral as a sacred space for worship, prayer and contemplation
• Conserve and enhance our natural and built environment, treasures and heritage
• Train and support our employees and volunteers
• Manage finances prudently and fundraise strategically

Chichester Cathedral is dedicated to the Holy Trinity, and witnesses to the enduring presence of God the Father; the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ; and the love and inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
