Choristers Singing
Choristers Singing

The choir at Chichester Cathedral is among the most respected of its kind in Britain, and has long been admired for the exceptional quality and beauty of its singing.

It continues to be at the heart of the Cathedral's pattern of daily worship, a tradition which spans over 900 years.

We are determined to secure the future of our choir, investing in a world-class musical and academic education for choristers. A Cathedral choir scholarship contributes half of each chorister's school fees, but some families need help with the remainder. Chichester Cathedral Choral Foundation Fund exists to ensure that scholarships and bursaries will continue to be offered, and to cover and shortfall such that no talented boy is turned away simply because of his family's financial circumstances. This vital fund ensures inclusivity and supports the Cathedral in maintaining the excellence of our music.

Support the Choral Foundation Fund

If you would like to support the choir, there are many different options available to you.

1) Make a donation

Please complete and return to us the downloadable form, with your donation and details. Please do allow us to gift-aid your donation, if you can, as this increases the total we receive by 25%.

2) Become a regular supporter, through monthly or annual giving.

To do this, you will need to set up a standing order, via your bank, using the Choral Foundation Fund's account details, (as set out in the downloadable form above).

3) Leave a gift in your Will

A legacy donation to the Choral Foundation Fund is a precious gift, helping to ensure that choral music can be enjoyed at Chichester Cathedral for generations to come.

"The chorister routine demands great commitment from both the boys and their families. A small team of just 18 choristers, some as young as 8 years old, perform daily at Evensong, Eucharist and a host of special services, singing to the highest professional standards. In addition to following the school curriculum of academic work, sport and drama, choristers practice for up to 18 hours each week. In return they receive a unique education and become part of the unique and living tradition of English Cathedral Music that is central to our cultural life and loved by millions around the world.

With your support we can continue to offer a world class chorister education and secure the future of choral music at Chichester Cathedral. Thank you."
