Funerals & Memorials

God’s love and power extend over all creation. Every life, including our own, is precious to God. Christians have always believed that there is hope in death as in life, and that there is new life in Christ over death.

A number of funeral and memorial services take place at the Cathedral every year; usually these are for members of the congregation or community who have a close connection with the Cathedral.

Where appropriate, and at the discretion of Chapter, we are also able to host large funerals and memorial services on behalf of parish churches in the diocese to accommodate larger congregations.

‘I am the resurrection and the life,’ says the Lord. ‘Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.’
