What you’ll do
Every day, you’ll help create memorable moments for visitors from all over the world, whether they’re discovering the Cathedral’s rich heritage, attending a service, or enjoying concerts, exhibitions and special events.
This full-time role combines front-line engagement on our Welcome Desk with administrative and operational responsibilities.
- Lead by example in delivering a high-quality welcome to everyone who comes through our doors
- Proactively encourage visitor donations, meeting agreed targets
- Ensure the Cathedral looks its best by maintaining presentation standards across the floor
- Assist with ticketing, merchandise sales, and front-of-house operations for Cathedral events
- Lead on event setup for tours, lectures, and hospitality activities
- Manage online visitor enquiries and reviews
Who we’re looking for
You’re a hands-on organiser who takes pride in creating a welcoming experience for everyone. You’ll have:
- Confidence in engaging with a wide range of visitors
- Experience in a public facing role, ideally within a heritage, cultural, religious, or visitor attraction setting
- An interest in arts, culture, or heritage
- A proactive approach to problem-solving, spotting issues and finding solutions
- Confidence working collaboratively with different teams and contributors
- A flexible, organised approach, with experience in scheduling, rota coordination, or operational planning
Key details
- Full-time: 35 hours per week (to be split between Welcome Desk, administrative and operational duties)
- Fixed term: 24 months
- Salary: £27,000 p/a
- Worth noting: This role will require regular weekend working, periodic evening working and a flexible
approach to working hours at busy times.
