Spire Tour Guide

We are seeking Spire Tour Guides to offer visitors an engaging and unique visit to the lantern at the base of the Cathedral Spire. 

The Spire Tour Guide acts as an ambassador for the Cathedral, taking visitors through nearly 950 years of history, to Chichester Cathedral’s Lantern. The journey includes climbing winding staircases and exploring roof spaces previously closed to the public. Offering breath-taking panoramic views, visitors can see as far as the Isle of Wight, Portsmouth, Goodwood and more.

The role includes:

  • participating in providing a positive welcome to all our visitors as part of the Cathedral Welcome Team.
  • welcoming and engaging with visitors on the tour
  • providing information, highlighting the points of interest, and imparting historical information as part of the tour
  • Following the format for the Cathedral Lantern Tour
  • Being aware of all emergency procedures – fire evacuation; first aid; pastoral concerns - and how to locate a Verger if additional assistance is required
  • to promote donations to the Cathedral when appropriate
