Tea and coffee, and biscuits, will be served at 10.00am followed by an informal talk by The Reverend Dr Dan Inman on the book "Small Things Like These" by Claire Keegan (Faber & Faber 2022).
On this book, Dan says: "This short novella draws us into the world of 1980s Ireland and the story of a coal merchant, Bill Furlong, discovering the unnerving secrets of the local community and the complicity of many, controlled by the Church, in preventing the truth from emerging."
Shortlisted for the Booker Prize and winner of the Orwell Prize in 2022, and shortly to be made into a film, Small Things Like These is considered as one of the finest offerings from Irish fiction in recent years.
