Chichester Cathedral's popular lunchtime concerts take place on Tuesdays at 1.10pm during term time, in the spectacular setting of the Cathedral Nave. They are free and last approximately 50 minutes. There is a retiring collection.

Musician Biographies

Viola Lenzi:

Italian-born pianist Viola Lenzi studied at the Pietro Mascagni Conservatoire in Livorno, earning a first-class Bachelor's and a Master's in Piano Performance. She moved to London in 2018 to complete a Postgraduate Advanced Diploma at Trinity Laban Conservatoire with Sergio De Simone and Martino Tirimo. Viola has participated in masterclasses with renowned pianists including Pascal Rogé, Jeffrey Swann, and Micha Dacic. She has performed at the New Lights Contemporary Festival, London Film Festival, and won the Elizabeth Schumann Lieder Competition with soprano Anna Marmion. A passionate collaborative pianist, Viola performs in duos with bass clarinetist Hannah Shilvock and pianist Isabella Gori. She has appeared at venues across the UK including Westminster Music Library, Poole Lighthouse, St George’s Bristol, and Chichester Cathedral, and has worked with the Livorno Classical Music Festival and “All Aboard Opera!” company.

Hannah Shilvock:

Hannah Shilvock is an award-winning clarinet and bass clarinet specialist based in Brighton, known for championing the bass clarinet’s virtuosity. A Selmer, BG France and RATstands artist. She is acclaimed for her innovative arrangements, including Debussy’s Cello Sonata and Satie’s Gymnopédie No.1 for bass clarinet, published by Alea Publishing. Hannah has performed with ensembles such as the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden Sinfonia and Brighton Philharmonic, and is a guest teacher at Trinity Laban and European festivals. Alongside her music career, she is a certified yoga teacher and founder of the Musicians Yoga Hub.

Duo bio:

Bass clarinetist Hannah Shilvock and pianist Viola Lenzi form a dynamic and expressive duo dedicated to showcasing the bass clarinet as a lyrical and virtuosic solo instrument. Since forming in 2022  after having met at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, they have performed widely across the UK, Ireland, Italy, and Lanzarote, captivating audiences with their distinctive programming and artistic synergy. With a diverse repertoire list spanning multiple periods and styles (including commissions and their own arrangements), the duo brings a unique blend of musicality and passion to every performance.

Chichester Cathedral's Lunchtime Concert series is self-supporting, and thrives through the generosity of its audiences. While there is no charge for admission, we suggest a minimum donation of £7 per person, with Gift Aid applied if possible. Donations can be made in the retiring collection, in the Cathedral, at our Visitor’s Desk or at various donation points, using cash, card and contactless or using the button below.
