Your impact doubled: Our Match Funding campaign

In our 950th anniversary year, we had the extraordinary opportunity to safeguard the Cathedral’s rich musical tradition. Every donation made during this campaign (which ended at end of March 2026) was doubled thanks to four major gifts totalling £950,000.

A gift of £10 becomes £20, £100 becomes £200 - and with Gift Aid, your generosity goes even further.

Launched in February 2025, the match-funding campaign had, as of 1 January 2026, raised approximately £911,000 towards the £950,000 target. Make sure you are following us on social media or are signed up to our newsletter to hear to the outcome of the appeal.

This campaign supported the Chichester Cathedral Platinum Endowment Trust for Music, a vital step in safeguarding the Cathedral’s choir, organ scholars and much more. Music is at the heart of our community, but sustaining it requires significant resources.

Our goal is ambitious: to grow the endowment to £5 million by 2026, ensuring a lasting legacy for music at the Cathedral. Over the last three years, we have raised £4.8 million of this target (as of 31/12/25). Achieving the full £5 million, together with revenue fundraising, will cover roughly half of the Cathedral’s annual music costs, including 25 per cent of choristers’ school fees through scholarships.

We’re so close - your gift could help us go over the line.

As the appeal entered its final weeks, the Cathedral Choir recorded a performance of Jerusalem to mark the 110th anniversary of Hubert Parry setting William Blake’s words to music, celebrating the hymn’s deep Sussex connections.

Every note counts. Every gift matters. And every donation will be doubled.

We launched our appeal with a special recording of Rutter's The Lord Bless You and Keep You.

In January 2026, we released a recording of the choir singing Jerusalem.
