Star of Bethlehem by Jayson Haebich

Star of Bethlehem by Jayson Haebich
Star of Bethlehem by Jayson Haebich

Thursday 22nd November -  Sunday 3rd February 2019
Free entry and all are welcome.

A spectacular laser Star of Bethlehem will be suspended above the Arundel Screen in Chichester Cathedral from the end of November 2018 to the beginning of February 2019.

The star will be created using two laser projectors set high in the Cathedral's Triforium.  The Star of Bethlehem will be represented as a morphing geometric shape moving slowly and gracefully across a transparent screen.  The effect will be mesmerising.  At low light levels the haze machine will transform the star image into a three dimensional, floating star, creating a mystical spectacle.

Jayson Haebich is a young innovative and creative coding artist.  He completed a Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons) at the University of South Australia in 2008 and is currently at Goldsmiths University completing his MFA Computational Arts.  He is associate lecturer at Cambridge School of Arts and Anglia Ruskin University.  He has created breathtaking visual exhibitions and screenings at music festivals and laser shows in the USA, Germany, UK, Portugal, Spain and Australia.

This installation is curated and commissioned by Jacquiline Creswell on behalf of Chichester Cathedral.
